This quote hit me like a ton of bricks:⠀ ⠀ It's time to stop obsessing about macronutrient numbers and instead look at the actual foods we are eating. David Katz, MD 🙀⠀ ⠀ I literally just had this conversation with a client - PERFECT TIMING!⠀ ⠀ Let's hash this out here for a second literally with the hashtag #iifym - which simply means if it fits your macros.⠀ ⠀ As a nutritionist - I am calling some serious BS right here. Now, I am not saying that there is anything wrong with counting your macronutrients (carbs/fats/proteins) but this does not mean that you get to eat whatever the heck you please AS LONG AS if fits in your ratio. What the heck?! 😮🤦🏻‍♀️ This is so backward and creates a really messed up relationship with food.⠀ ⠀ Looking good (and being ripped) DOES NOT EQUAL optimal health and performance. ⠀ ⠀ Put down the protein bar - it doesn't matter if it has 25g of protein and fits in your ratio! It's probably also loaded with fillers, preservatives, chemicals you and I can't even pronounce and things your body can't digest.⠀#eatrealfood ⠀⠀ Let me know your thoughts about this! (respectfully please 😉) ⠀
